Chicago

Thu 31 October - Sat 02 November 2019

Autumn 2019LIPA
Book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse Music by John Kander Lyrics by Fred Ebb Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins Script adaptation by David Thompson

Chicago in the roaring 1920s, Vaudeville chorus girl Roxie Hart murders her lover and is sent to prison. On death row she meets double murderer and fellow jazz singer Velma Kelly.

Despite starting out as rivals, competing for the spotlight and headlines, the pair join forces as they use their celebrity in search for acquittal. Inspired by real-life events - Chicago is a sharpedged satire on corruption in the criminal justice system and celebrity criminals.

Chicago features a dazzling score by Kander and Ebb which inspired the timeless choreography of Bob Fosse.
